What this app is
PennyPing is an Android expense tracker. It reads incoming notifications to detect bank or UPI debits, shows a banner so you can pick a category, and stores confirmed expenses on your device.
No accounts, no servers
There is no sign-in. The Android app is built without the INTERNET permission, so it cannot send your data to us or to anyone else. We do not run analytics, ads, or crash reporting inside the app.
Notification access
If you enable Notification access, Android delivers a copy of notification title and body text to PennyPing. That can include bank alerts, OTPs, and private messages. We use this only to look for expense-like text (amount, debit language). We do not use it for advertising or profiling.
You can turn Notification access off in Android Settings at any time. The app will then stop reading notifications.
Display over other apps
If you enable this, PennyPing can show a small banner above other apps so you can confirm a debit without opening PennyPing. The banner is labeled and can be dismissed with Skip.
What we store on the device
- Expenses you confirm (amount, category, time, optional note).
- Categories you add, and which five appear first on the banner.
Skip stores nothing. Credits and salary-like notifications are not treated as expenses. We may keep a short snippet of the source notification with a confirmed expense to help you recognize the row. We do not keep a full log of every notification.
This website
www.pennyping.in is a static site. We do not set advertising cookies. Your browser may still send normal request data to the host (Cloudflare or similar) such as IP address and user agent, which we do not use to identify you. If that changes, this page will say so.
Children
PennyPing is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect children’s data. The app does not collect personal data off the device at all.
Deleting data
Uninstalling PennyPing deletes its local database. You can also delete individual expenses in the app once that screen ships.
Changes
If this policy changes, we will update the date above. Material changes will be reflected here before a Play Store update that needs them.
